Nvidia has officially unveiled its latest GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards, which are quite impressive. The RTX 5090 is priced at $2,000 and requires a recommended power supply of 1kW, roughly equivalent to continuously running a belt sander. Nvidia's new line of GPUs aims to meet the high demand in the current AI competition.
These new GPUs, which promise to elevate PC gaming systems, were introduced by CEO Jensen Huang on stage at CES 2025 on Monday night. Nvidia's well-known DLSS technology, which enhances resolution and frame rates by utilizing existing computing power, is now accompanied by RTX Neural Shaders. These shaders use machine learning to compress textures, freeing up additional processing power for other tasks.

One notable point is that Nvidia assures significant improvements even for their budget-friendly cards. All new cards are expected to be twice as fast on average as their predecessors. Huang claimed that this year's $550 RTX 5070 would perform comparably to the previous $1,600 RTX 4090, thanks to machine learning and other optimizations.
At the high end, Nvidia presented a graph indicating that the newer RTX 5090 would deliver twice the performance of the RTX 4090 (for just $400 more) in games like Alan Wake 2 and Black Myth: Wukong. Additionally, the company showcased Cyberpunk 2077 running at over double the framerate with full ray tracing enabled, emphasizing the importance of high frame rates for an optimal gaming experience.
Despite its high power consumption, the RTX 5090 is more compact than its predecessor. The 4090 Founder's Edition was a three-slot card weighing over five pounds, while the RTX 5090 occupies only two slots, making it suitable for more compact PC builds.
PRICING:
GeForce RTX 5070 - $550
GeForce RTX 5070 Ti - $ 750
GeForce RTX 5080 - $1,000
GeForce RTX 5090 - $2,000
